Our Engagement Party:

Our engagement party was in September, a few months after getting engaged. It was at my future in-laws house and we had so much fun putting together the different elements of this event. We went with a "fiesta" theme because anytime we have a party all Scott wants is Mexican food. Since we are not having that at our wedding, I figured lets go all out with it for the engagement party. So if you are planning an engagement party for yourself or someone else here are some fun elements to incorporate into your event!

Our invitations were really simple, with all the details on the back. RECOMMENDATION: Consider registering for your engagement party and add a link to your invite! (Or have your wedding site already set-up).

For centerpieces we didn't have 100% seating, and we had a mix of tables. These were REALLY easy to make, and  inexpensive. The table runners were my FAVORITE part of these, and then I added in a mix of candle votives. I think your engagement party is definitely the time to do something different from what your wedding will be. We aren't going to be having super bright colors at our wedding, so I wanted to play around with it for this.

This succulent was the prize for the game we played at the engagement party. I really didn't want to force anyone to play, but people did have some fun with it! Future post on how to create a fun game!

There are certain things you can do to make your engagement party special and unique. We did a display of baby photos of each of us. I tried to get photos where we were doing similar things as kids (i.e. sleeping, dressing up) and then at the bottom I printed some of our engagement photos.I just used small clothes pins, twine and some command strips to do this. Really the most time consuming part was just sorting through the photos!

New Last Name!

I wanted to incorporate my new last name into a few details so we did these gold foil balloons against the hedges in their yard. And we also made a corn-hole set (shoutout to Kat for the lettering!)

We had a little station for people to take photos and play our game. I love that we have these because we really didn't do a great job of taking photos otherwise...meh.   RECOMMENDATION: Assign someone to take photos at your party, or even consider having a photographer so you can test someone out for the wedding!

Favors:

For favors we did custom sugar cookies from Sugar and Scribe Bakery in La Jolla. We put our wedding date on them because we happened to pick our venue just in time. But you could easily put your initials. Everyone LOVED these and I think it was a fun way to thank everyone for coming.

All in all we had a blast at our engagement party, and kept it pretty simple! If you need any help please feel free to contact me and I would be happy to help you put a personal touch on your event!
